MMCX Connector Mod for Koss Porta Pro headphones
thingiverse
(New version, which uses a nut to retain the MMCX connector, has been added) Removeable cables makes everything classier, especially the now ubiquitous Koss Porta Pros. This model is a holder for an MMCX connector. The connector can be found on ebay and should be the shorter (8.5mm overall length) M3 threaded version. The holder will need the mounting hole drilled and tapped out to M3. The two screws used are M2x6mm button heads. They screw straight into the pre-existing holes on the driver back and don't require the holes to be drilled or tapped. The inner pin should be wired to the driver where the red or green signal wire was soldered and the outer tap should connect to the gold ground wires position. The cable I used is a generic MMCX one for the Shure SE425s as well as many others, from ebay. I had to cut off the stiff shaped sheathing on the wires at the MMCX connector ends.
