Hi friends, I'm hooked on gadgets, and the more useless they are, the more I love them. There must be a better way to test a freezer's safety, so I built my own gadget for that purpose. It consists of two parts: a tank and a receiver. Here's how it works: Step 1: Fill the tank with water - you don't need to fill it up completely; just two-thirds will do. Step 2: Put the tank in the freezer until the ice is solidified. Step 3: Return the tank to the receiver. That's it! Leave the kit in your freezer. When you return from vacation or have doubts, check the receiver. There are two possibilities: 1. If there's no ice, the ice in the tank never melted, so your food is still good! 2. If there's ice in the receiver, the ice in the tank melted, and then froze again - that means the temperature rose above 0°C at some point. Your freezer failed. I hope you enjoy this gadget as much as I do!
