MkV VW rear motor mount insert
thingiverse
These are inserts designed for placement into the voids of the rear motor/transmission mount on a MkV GTI/Jetta (and similar era Audi). They consist of two pieces, one for the forward voids and another for the rear. Insertion is straightforward but they require some form of plate/disk to hold them in place, as they tend to fall out when starting the engine otherwise. Commercial versions often feature a metal disk, but I opted to create my own using a sheet of think metal. I'll attempt to capture images of their installation later. Vibrations are only noticeable during startup, not during driving or idle periods. I fabricated the front insert from carbon fiber nylon and used PETG for the rear due to limited availability of the former material. While I didn't consider heat resistance, I sought a flexible material to minimize NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness). Early results suggest an improvement in power delivery since engine movement has been reduced.
