MKS Gen L v1.0 Control Box w/ mosfet
thingiverse
This project has been put on hold temporarily due to another MKS Gen L control box being worked on (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3843737). **Changelog Below** The control box for my Maker Select v2.1 (Wanhao Di3 clone) is made of metal, produces a loud noise, has a bulky design, and is extremely annoying to use. I had already swapped the stock Melzi board out for an MKS Gen L v1.0, but didn't like the mounting options available for using the stock box. So I took this opportunity to learn Fusion 360 and got inspiration from other control boxes I've seen. This project is still a work in progress as I'm considering different mounting options for the frame, but may end up leaving it as a separate component for now. STEP files are uploaded for remixing or tinkering purposes. The current version uses M3x10 screws and M3 nuts to secure the mosfet. M4x10 screws and M4 nuts to secure the board. M3x12 screws (going through the bottom holes, M3x35 will fit if you want to go through the top) and M3 nuts are used to secure an 80mm fan (I use a Noctua) to the lid for cooling purposes. Future options may be explored. To secure the hinges, I used M3x25 screws with M3 lock nuts. Do not tighten them too much or the lid won't rotate freely enough.
