MKS BASE 1.4 Board Case
thingiverse
A case is designed to accommodate the MKS BASE board with ample space for wiring installation. A 60x60x10 mm fan can be easily installed within this case. The controller board comes equipped with onboard stepper drivers, not replaceable ones like those on higher versions of the MKS base. However, no mounting holes are present yet, making it difficult to attach it wherever desired. To address this issue, a version has been created with two pre-formed openings for breakout purposes, strategically located at the upper end left and right to manage stepper and end stop switch cables. The latest version, Version 3, features integrated support for nut carriers in the corners, enhancing print quality. Initially, a USB-opening was designed but turned out to be too low; it needs to be at least 11x12mm high and wide. To rectify this, sockets were built to the correct height. Despite the size adjustment, the cover still fits perfectly without altering the full case height, thus V4 remains unchanged. At first, a 40mm fan was envisioned for installation, but due to its width, it conflicted with nearby pins, necessitating a design change to accommodate a 60mm fan. To resolve this, the cover was elevated by 5mm, allowing the 60mm fan to be installed outside if desired. Given the stiff wires of the heated bed and power supply, a larger edition was created, extending the lower end by 15mm to facilitate easier wire management and prevent tension on the wires and board terminal connectors.
