I found the original Phaser rifle to be perfect for cosplay, but I wanted to add a little more flair in the form of a pulse beam and the corresponding sound effects. To achieve this, I remixed the scope to fit a pair of small speakers in the top, ensuring adequate hiding room behind the plate and the sensor dish. This modification allows for a seamless integration of sound effects with the overall design. For this project, you'll need a few key items: A Build-A-Bear record-a-message "heart" that surprisingly fits perfectly and has enough speaker amplification to pulse an LED to the sound playback. You can find this item on the Build-A-Bear website at buildabear.com. Small speakers with adequate amplification will also be required. I found a suitable option on Amazon at amazon.com, listed as B07LGKLFQ8. Some minor soldering skills are necessary to attach the trigger switch to the two solder pads and trigger playback.
