MK9 bowden extruder for hephestos
thingiverse
I created a remix of the design found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:784247, specifically modifying the STL file called MK9_i3_wide_right.stl to meet my needs for a diamond hotend setup. I needed three identical units for this project. The original design had some issues that I addressed by making key changes. Initially, the bowden holder holes were the same diameter as the thread of the holder, which caused problems when trying to screw them in place. The heat generated by the motors on this plastic part exacerbated these issues. To resolve this, I modified the design by extruding the hole to create a gap between the motor and the holder, effectively reducing the impact of heat stress. Additionally, I decreased the diameter of the hole slightly, making it smaller than the bowden holder's thread diameter. This adjustment ensured that the holders stayed securely in place. To test my revised design, I printed one unit using ABS for its high temperature resistance. The diamond hotend was used solely for fun during this print. Here are my print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Hephestos Prusa I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill Percentage: 33%
