MK8 i3 - 50mm Radial Circular Fan Shroud
thingiverse
I've designed a custom fan shroud for a 50mm radial fan that perfectly fits the GEEETech i3 model printers' metal carrier. Three models are included: 1. The standard model, suitable for the metal carrier with MK8 extruder and hot-end. 2. A version with a ring holder for a 12mm auto bed level sensor. 3. Another version with a ring holder for an 18mm auto bed level sensor. I've successfully printed both the standard model and the 18mm sensor model using a 0.2mm layer height and a 15% infill at 50mm/s. The fan does not require any actual mount to hold it in place. For the inductive sensor, you can use these settings in Marlin for bed leveling: [12mm sensor] X-Offset = -21 Y-Offset = -44 [18mm sensor] X-Offset = -25 Y-Offset = -45 [18mm sensor V2] X-Offset = -25 Y-Offset = -35 The Z-Offset depends on the mounting height of your sensor on the mount. Mine is set to -1.0. I've recently revised my design, moving the sensor holder closer to the nozzle from 45mm to 35mm offset. Additionally, I've made some minor tweaks to improve airflow and provide more clearance at the bottom, preventing it from touching the binder clips. If you don't have a printer of your own, feel free to contact me on my Etsy store, and I'll be happy to print it for you: https://www.etsy.com/shop/XDr4g0nX3DPrinting Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: GEEETech i3 Pro B Metal Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Notes: Supports could be generated, but are not necessary for the standard model. For the 12/18mm sensor model, you will need to generate "touching buildplate" support otherwise the sensor holder will not print correctly. Seeing as few people have designed a fan shroud for 50mm radial fans, I've created one that fits a GEEETech i3 with an MK8 extruder and hot-end. After three prototype versions, I'm happy to release this final version. Update - 12mm sensor version: As per Darkman1969's request, I've made a version that should fit a 12mm sensor. Update - 18mm V2: On June 23rd, I redid parts of the design so the sensor is now closer to the nozzle, with only a Y-offset of 35mm instead of 45mm.
