MK8 extruder carriage with 3D Touch bracket (CTC Prusa i3 DIY Clone)
thingiverse
This upgrade enhances the CTC Prusa i3 DIY, enabling use of a MK8 extruder as depicted in photos ($24.95 on eBay). The only wiring modification is swapping the middle two wires connected to the stepper motor. The print head is positioned about 1.5 cm left of its original location, resulting in larger prints compared to the original. The bracket for the 3D touch sensor was incorporated into this design since the CTC lacks a space for a bed leveling sensor. This modification requires a firmware upgrade for the 3D Touch to function (not endorsed by CTC), but if you have no warranty left on your printer or don't care, it's worth trying. A better carriage can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3205032, which has the probe aligned with the print head.
