MK8 Extruder Block for Wanhao D9 & Monoprice Maker Pro
thingiverse
I made some modifications to the extruder base for my Monoprice Maker Pro (Wanhao D9 Clone): 1) I mirrored the model to put the lever on the left side to fit my machine. 2) I modified the base thickness, the boss the spring lever mates to/pivots on, and the filament hole position to match my original extruder base. My screws bottomed out before tightening up the base to the motor. 4) I added a lever to squeeze against when releasing the spring lever because I did not like putting that force onto the whole head/carriage assembly. 5) After several failed attempts to print TPU due to the filament binding around the drive gear, I made the gap between the base and the drive gear and idle roller much tighter. Also added a small feature to go into the v-groove of the roller to keep the filament as captured as possible. 6) Made the screw holes tighter so there is less play and less chance to bind the drive gear when attaching to the motor. I still recommend loosely installing the screw from the spring lever pivot first and then installing the other countersunk screw. Then remove the spring lever pivot screw and re-install the spring lever arm with the screw. 7) Removed some material on the original support piece to save plastic as well as deepened/widened the pocket under the spring to save some more unnecessary material. 8) Added some general fillets to give things a smoother feel (and maybe save a tenth of a gram of filament lol). I really like how the squeeze lever turned out and I can print TPU without any concerns. This is a remix from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62510
