MK8 CTC silicone mold
thingiverse
I've been searching for a suitable form to pour silicone isolators into the aluminum block of my CTC (Makerbot clone) for quite some time now and unfortunately found nothing. Following this great project:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1655134 I decided to design one myself! To print, you'll need the following files along with: 3x M3x10mm screws Heat-resistant 2K silicone from latex-24.de 2x 5ml syringes 1x 10ml syringe Procedure: Print all files with supports. Cut out all holes using an M3 tap or use a lot of force to get the M3 screws through. Assemble the handle, lid, and middle section together. Insert another screw into the housing flush with the inner surface so that when pouring silicone nothing will drip down below. The final shape has a volume of 3055.42mm^3, which means you'll need about 3ml of silicone. Draw up 1.75ml of each component of the silicone using the 5ml syringes and mix them in the 10ml syringe (or just put everything into the housing). Pour it into the housing. Gently tap the bottom part on a table to remove any air bubbles still trapped in the silicone. Assemble both parts together and screw tight. After about 3 hours, everything will be dry and can be taken apart. Have fun! Print Settings: Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 30%
