MK8 Adjustable Fan Holder

Customizable adjustable fan holder designed specifically for the MK8 extruder allows for making custom fan holders to fit any size of fan, which can then be attached on both the left and right side of the extruder and adjusted for height and tilt. Using the customizer, users can preview individual parts by selecting each part from the "Part" drop down menu available in all tabs. For a zoomed-in view of an individual part, go to the [Build Plate] tab and set the "Show Build Plate" dropdown to "No." You may also adjust the display settings for the build plate in accordance with your specific printer platform. Get accurate measurements of the distance from the center of your extruder nozzle to the front plate mounting surface of your MK8. Set this value as noz_yoffset in the [Fan/Duct] tab, typically around 8mm but may vary depending on different extruders. This measurement ensures that the duct vent is directed directly at the tip of the nozzle. If necessary, adjust the rail slides to account for where wires route through your extruder by adding some rotation to the rail plates so they don't interfere with wires. Adjust rail_polar_1 for the left side and rail_polar_2 for the right side under the [Face Plate] tab as needed. Consider setting duct_mount="Slot" (vs. "Hole") if you add any rail rotation, this will enable proper compensation during duct mounting. You can manually recenter the fan plate on the extruder nozzle by adjusting hinge_yoff, but a download of the OpenSCAD source and manual modification may be required for optimal alignment. Determine your fan's width and hole spacing by measuring them directly. Set fan_width and fan_holedist in the [Fan/Duct] tab to these values, where: fan_width=60 for 60mm fans and fan_width=40 for 40mm fans, with a standard fan_holedist of 50 for 60mm fans and 32 for 40mm fans. When assembling, use thread forming screws to secure the hinge slides on the dovetail. You can also modify the hingeslide_dovelength variable if using a non-low-profile fan to facilitate access for tightening the screw. The default settings are optimized for using a 60mm fan with M3 nut/bolt hardware and printed with a nozzle thickness of 0.4mm and layer height of 0.2mm.
