MK8 Adjustable Dual Extruder upgrade
thingiverse
Thomas's design at http://www.thingiverse.com/whpthomas/designs inspired me to upgrade my extuder head due to issues I faced. My improved design is compatible with my Replicator 1 Dual. Using a work-available spring (part no. 1180) from Poseidon diving equipment, it's designed for dual extrusion and has an adjustable spring pressure for optimal print results. Since the upgrade, I've printed for 60 hours without feed failures. I sourced SolidWorks files of the Replicator from tlalexander's Thingiverse designs to facilitate my work. Recently, I acquired a Replicator 2x with issues, so I created a new base with filament hose attachments using similar parts as before. Following whpthomas's instructions should work for this version too. Print settings: standard mode, 0.1 mm layer height, 4 shells, and 99% infill.
