The Direct Drive Extruder is designed for use with MK7 Drive gear and works well with 1.75mm filament and the MakerGear Hot End. To get started, you will need the MK7 Drive gear (available at http://store.makerbot.com/mk7-drive-gear.html or http://twelvepro.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51) and the V3 GrooveMount Hot End for 1.75mm filament with a .35mm nozzle from MakerGear (http://www.makergear.com/products/operators-pack). Credit goes to Mark Fuller for the original design. To print, use ABS and settings such as Perimeters: 3, Solid Layers: 3, Fill Density: .45, Layer height: .26 in Slic3r 0.8.4 or higher. Print with the Motor attachment plate facing the build platform to avoid issues.
