MK7 GTI Intake Scoop

MK7 GTI Intake Scoop

thingiverse

This is a custom intake scoop designed to enhance airflow from the grill into the engine bay of a MK7 GTI. Print the scoop vertically for added strength, as shown in the picture. Use a Dremel to drill out a square hole that matches the scoop's dimensions. Insert the scoop from the top, and then drill holes for M5 bolts. Secure the scoop with bolts from the top and washers and nuts from the bottom. To maximize airflow, also use a Dremel to modify the air duct on the intake side. Clean up any debris or strings that may have accumulated during the process using a wire wheel on your Dremel. I'm not sure how much of a difference this modification makes, but it likely reduces under-hood temperatures slightly. The real benefit, however, lies in its appearance – and let's be honest, that's all that truly matters.
