MK7 Extruder Fan Block blower

MK7 Extruder Fan Block blower

This fan duct is designed for use with Makerbots Mk7 stepstruder, although it might work with other setups as well. It helps capture excess air from the fans, directing it towards the extruder tip and surrounding area to potentially improve print quality or enable higher extruding temperatures without sagging or slumping of the material. Additionally, this design may reduce lifting prints by quickening the temperature match between the extruded material and its surroundings. While the airflow could be improved, real-life tests have shown successful results in small and extended prints. If you have knowledge about internal aerodynamics, feel free to share tips for optimization. To install, follow these steps: open your Makerbot, slice the fan duct, print it, clean the inside and spacer holes, replace the 2 5/8" spacers with this printed piece (ensuring the heatsink blocks bottom sits flush), and finally, profit! Note that the spacer holes may require some adjustment to accommodate long bolts.
