The quest for perfect PLA prints involves modifying MAKERBLOC's excellent extruder barrel cooling fan design found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8955. This specific modification uses a Sunon fan from an Apple G4 laptop. Here is how to proceed with the installation: 1. Obtain the required fan and disassemble your extruder Bridge. 2. Print MAKERBLOC's second part, which isn't the fan housing, as it installs on the right side of the extruder Bridge. 3. Replace the acrylic cross pieces with printed ones, then glue the fan housing to the duct, aligning the openings. Acetone/ABS mix is a great option for this gluing process. 4. Mount the fan in the housing using the screws that held it in the Mac. 5. Wire the fan into a 5v pin in one of your Molex connectors. This installation features an on/off switch and uses the black wire for ground and the green wire for power; you can use the red, but it may provide more airflow than needed.
