The initial design I'm working on is for a Mendel X carriage to accommodate two MakerBot Mk5 hotends. The mount plate has yet to be designed, and I'm undecided about the need for a lower part. A recent RepRap blog (which I'll add later) features an upper carriage without a lower section, which should work fine as long as we're not printing in a variable gravity environment. This non-parametric, untested design involves mounting the angled bearings like you would on a standard Mendel and installing the straight bearings with their ends facing inward, providing enough space for Mk5 hotends insertion.
