MK5 DUAL-STEPPER MONSTER POWER!
thingiverse
The Ruttmeister's Colosso-Gear and two 14-tooth NEMA17 gears need to be printed for this upgrade, which can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5795. Although it was challenging to make this a derivative of the original project, it is still possible. The DualStepperMount model should also be printed. To connect two steppers in parallel, there are two options - either splicing wires from one controller or using two headers on a single controller cable, with the cable connecting motherboard to controller 1 and then to controller 2. This allows hooking up each stepper to its respective controller in the usual way. While the case fan effectively cools the steppers currently, designing a specific stepper fan mount is still desired. The project is still considered a work in progress as it could benefit from a Wade's-style tensioner and extra support similar to TheRuttmeister's original design. A mount script in OpenSCAD that supports both angle-mounted steppers and dual mount designs has been developed and can be accessed at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6549. Finally, the project is marked as WIP but all initial checkboxes have been ticked off, with future changes to be documented as derivatives.
