Mk3S+ Steel Sheet SKADIS (V1)
prusaprinters
Now that I've attached some pegboard to the sides of my printer, I want to store everything on it! Most steel-sheet holders have design decisions that I disagree with, so I started from scratch and made a new one! This is a work in progress, but I wanted to publish it in time for the Design Contest! Some aspects I wanted to fix were:I didn't like how some holders needed a lot of effort to align the sheet into the slot. Some designs required that you align both corners into the respective slot, and that was a lot of work in such a tight space. I made my design with a flat top that guides the plate into the slot.I didn't like how the other designs attached to Skadis pegboard. I designed this piece to attach using T-Nuts, which I believe to be the best Skadis attachment style for this purpose.Other designs put the sheets very close together. This made it difficult to see which plates were stored, and made it difficult to retrieve them. My design fans them out and spaces them so you can grab one easily. It was difficult to modify other designs, so I made a clean CAD file and am including it so others can modify my design to suit their needs. The file is parametric, so you can change how many sheets it has slots for! I've included 2,3,4,5,6 sheet varieties in the downloads, However, if you want more, you just have to change the “NumberOfSheets” parameter in Fusion 360. I figured I wouldn't include a single-sheet model because it's always nice to have an extra slot when swapping between two. (It also breaks my model currently)This model utilizes the phenomenal T-Nuts for Skadis created by @6d6178. They are an incredible way to securely attach things to Skadis pegboard, and they were a treat to design around. You must download and print two of them for this model. If you have access to both sides of your pegboard and have M3 fasteners, there is another option. I'll also include a remix that uses a simple M3 screw and nut, but you'll have to be able to reach the back of the skadis to use this one.Bill of Materials1x Printed Caddy (This model)2x Printed T-Nuts (found here)2x M2.5 DIN934 Hex Nut2x M2.5 x 12mm ScrewFinally, I want people to be able to remix this design to suit their needs, so you can find the most up-to-date Fusion 360 file here.Version Two GoalsAfter printing V1, I have some complaints that I need to address before recommending this model. I want to split this into two pieces so I can reduce the warping during printing. The separate file for steel sheet dimensions makes this too difficult to parameterize.I'd like to add another two T-Nut contact points to strengthen the attachment.V1 is working for now, but I'm going to re-build this from the ground up to solve these problems.
