I upgraded my MK3's bearings, but the u-bolts kept striking the frame due to clearance issues. After shimming the frame for hours, I realized that I needed more room to install the new bearings properly. Adding extra height solved the problem, and now they fit smoothly in place. The 2.0mm offset spacers are designed specifically for this purpose and should work well with your setup.
