MK2 Swole Frame Brace

MK2 Swole Frame Brace

myminifactory

This is a frame brace for the Prusa Research Original Prusa i3 MK2S.  It was designed to remove flexibility found in stock setup as well to ease threaded rod fitment-to-brace that can slip during adjustment or tightening.  It does not however completely solve perpendicularity, but it does help mitigate extreme errors...and it looks cool!   You will need from spare parts bag...(not additional, total) x2 M3 Hex Socket 8mm long screws x2 M3 washers x2 M3 nuts x2 standard Prusa zip-ties (extra optional as desired) x4 large washers X8 large nuts STEP file provided for those who would like to adjust the design to their liking.   Also, some notes for use. You will need two more nuts from your spare parts as both sides now need capturing. The braces are intensionally 50mm long to ease reference measurements as necessary while following official manual. Don't tighten grab brackets too much, its only job is to keep threaded rod from slipping away or rotating from frame while tightening or adjusting and not structural.  It can even be removed once fully tightened. Installing zip-tie is clumsy, you will need to obstruct with something just enough so the tip buckles and falls into the slot inside the rod port.  Space was tight so compromises were made.  It is tricky but works fine in practice. Installing bracket nuts are also difficult.  I suggest using a long M3 screw, use pliers to hold nut while placing on screw through bracket hole then pulling into hole.  Switch to 8 or 12mm screw with washer and tighten nut into home locking in place by friction.  Should be tight, remove screw and washer for bracket use when installing into printer.  Caution: ONLY use 8mm for final bracket mounting or you will damage threaded rod, there is only 3mm or so clearance!
