MK2/MK2S/MM Based Modded Extruder set
thingiverse
This is a modified version of the Prusa i3 MK2's extruder unit designed to fit most other printers out there. The modifications are aimed at accommodating the mk8 extruder unit with filament guide, which comes in two versions for each except the extruder cover; a shorter version that can use either 18-20mm M3 screws just like normal and a normal version based on the Prusa MK2's screw sets. More details are provided below. This is actually a great compact extruder mount and unit to begin with, suitable for the MK2's carriage included as well. I have included the source file for you guys to fiddle with this base and customize them further. Credit goes to Prusa's team for these designs. About the Models Update: 24th September 2017 Added Y-splitter D6 8th September 2017 Added Multi Material for BLTouch 12 August 2017 Added Multi Material series 11th April 2017 Added Bowden series MM Parts and Y-Splitter I added the new MM parts just like the MK2S parts previously, which can be used as either bowden or multi material paired with the y-splitter.stl from Prusa3d. I did not take any credits for any of the original designs since I only modified these designs to cater conventional inductive probe sizes. Any cheap Chinese E3D V6 style should fit into these parts, but if you're going to pair them up with the y-splitter, you can't use them with the pneumatic fittings. I myself forgot to measure the length of the Teflon tube that is inside the y-splitter and the hotend itself. Estimated length of the protruding Teflon tube should be about 10-15mm more than the hotend's aluminum body. The y-splitter, however, aren't modified yet, so you might have trouble fitting in the pneumatic fittings on the y-splitter itself. While I am working slowly on the Prusa3d Y-Splitter, you can use the Bowden series paired with this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2111918 The current Y-splitter design are meant to be paired with original E3D with low-profile pneumatic fitting instead of the Chinese E3D V6 clone. Servo Types These uses Tower Pro SG90 servo type or similar dimensions. These are for those who're using servo for auto bed leveling systems like my printer yet wanted to have compact extruder set. Compatibility This should be compatible with only either Prusa MK2 or MK2S X-carriage due to different mounting screw hole width. The carriage should be compatible with all or most Prusa based structure out there, as the x-axis smooth rod distance are similar therefore the x-carriage should be compatible as well. I found out that the original direct drive are not compatible with the most of the direct drive gears out there such as MK8 extruder or generic geared extruder. I searched the net that Prusa3d's extruder are 6mm in diameter while others are 7-11mm diameter.
