MK2 Frame upgrade
thingiverse
12/26/17 Added edge guide to drill guide. 12/18/17 Replaced corner braces and rear y-rod holders with mirrored pairs. Installed new Rambo adapter, attaching RAMBO case to extrusion for added stiffness, and PSU, fitting clone frame perfectly. Upgraded both components with slotted screw holes for secure attachment. 12/17/17 Updated drill guide to Mk3 spacing specifications. Swapped out the original RAMBO case for a set of new cable grips, utilizing mk2.5 covers for a sleek design. Do not use y-idler until reworked as the length is incorrect compared to the Mk3 version. 10/26/17 Modified belt holder to allow bed to retract fully. Rear extrusion should have been 5mm longer and front ones shorter. Clone frame assembled and passed self-test with flying colors. 10/22/17 Files refreshed for optimal performance. This project began as a cost-effective alternative to the Haribo/Zaribo mods. The intention was to reuse as much as possible of the MK2 while discarding allthread components. Then, the MK3 model emerged, and I adapted my design to follow its lead. This is not an official modification; it's strictly my version. Parts have only been tested on a clone frame at this point. The RAMBo case is a solid enclosure with a removable panel door and a separate brace that attaches securely to the extrusion. It's entirely optional. My PSU case is designed for a different power supply unit, but should be easily modifiable to fit the Prusa PSU without any issues. I will provide extrusion lengths at a later time. It's possible to use the drilling guide with all MK3 parts by downloading and printing the DXF files for the front and back plates at 1:1 scale, then gluing them onto steel as a cutting/drilling guide. If you choose this route, use the Prusa supplied extrusion lengths for optimal results. Hole sizes are 3.1mm (1/8") and 5.1mm (3/16").
