The Mark 18 Close Quarters Battle Receiver is a customized version of the M4A1 rifle widely used by US armed forces, designed specifically for use in urban areas where a high-powered rifle-caliber round is required despite the constraints posed by a full-length rifle's limited maneuverability. This was one of the initial projects I worked on independently during my free time without any guidance, allowing me to establish my personal workflow from start to finish: I sought out and created vector references using Illustrator or similar software. Next, I compartmentalized all model components in Maya. Each individual piece was then unwrapped using Blender's effective unwrap tool. Finally, I manually laid out the UVs to optimize texture sheet packing density while ensuring a coherent layout that maximized texel utilization.
