MK1 MR2 AW11 motor mount inserts 3D printable

This is a version of our Matrix Garage polyurethane motor mount design revised specifically for 3D printing. We have been printing these using Ninjatek Cheetah filament and it seems to work quite well. We have not done any testing at extreme temps and are still waiting to see how the hold up long term but it looks very promising so far. There are filaments that are higher end and higher temp but also more costly so we hope more mainstream filaments will work well enough. You will most likely need a direct drive 3D printer and I recommend a dual drive extruder. I also recommend a wide nozzle and slow print speeds to ensure good adhesion. I have included my Prusa Slicer project files with a .6mm nozzle which is the minimum diameter I would recommend. Different printers will need different settings but using these settings as a reference should get someone close. For real world use I would recommend using a metal inner sleeve that goes inside the poly insert. I will be putting sleeve kits up on our Matrix Garage website so people printing their own mounts can buy the sleeves. I have included models of the sleeve inserts in case anyone wants to make their own or play with 3D printed materials. Because of how they are clamped in the mounts though plastic isn't an ideal material for those. The two piece design was made for casting. I have been working on a one piece design which is actually better for 3D printing and functions better. I made and tested a trans side mount design that is included in the files. To make the front and rear mounts one can take the geometry from the 2 piece mounts and create a one piece. You just have to measure the width of the metal motor mount sleeve they press into and model the inserts to suit. The trans side mount is mostly correct for the timing side but the width will need to be checked and adjusted as MK1A and MK1b have different widths. The step files are mostly uploaded to give some visual representation. If you download the zip file you will find the fusion 360 models, step, stl, Prusa Slicer, files, etc. These files are intended to be for personal use and to support the community. I have no problem if hobbyists making these for other members of the community charge a small amount for materials and upkeep but if anyone wants to use these designs for profit please reach out to me to discuss.
