Print MkII_RSH3D40 or MkII_RSH3D45 depending on which printer you have, the rest of the parts fits both. --- Mk II: A Rigid spool holder for Dremel 3D40 / 3D45 This replaces my previous spool holder for Dremel: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3088371 The Mk II version lets filament feed from a comfortable angle and with minimum friction. (Previous version had issues with feeding resistance going up when there was less than 20-30% filament left on the spool. Mk II does not have this problem because it feeds directly into the tube.) Note: If you already printed the old spool holder, several parts can be reused: end cap, safety disc and all adapters. Note II: I am really interested in making things rock solid and secure. If you look at the photo of the AntiSlipNSlide, you will find that it holds the whole unit in a fixed position. It will not fall out. It will not spin all over the place. It will stay in position. I am pretty happy with this design if I dare say so myself. So without further ado, here is the updated story: I really love my Dremel 3D40. I have printed insane amounts of stuff on it. At one point, I decided to find third-party filaments. The FlashForge Finder PLA filament is compatible size-wise (fits inside the machine), so I used that for a long period. Eventually, you run out of colors and I wanted to try the Hatchbox filament. For this to work, you need some kind of external spool holder. I tried the https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1653391 with the accompanying arm: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2240843. Even though the spool holder looked nice, it was tilting outward because the thin plastic inside the Dremel does not support the full weight of a 1 kg Hatchbox spool. Enter the "Mk II Rigid Spool Holder for Dremel 3D40 / 3D45". The spool holder has a snug fit and can sustain a lot more weight than 1 kg. If you use another filament that doesn't fit the "Mk II Rigid Spool Holder TM", just print your own! Dimensions should be: Length of the cylinder should be 68-ish mm. Inner diameter is 18,5 mm so that it is in a snug fit on the spool holder. Outer diameter is whatever your filament spool has for inner diameter. Some notes on printing. I printed everything using low quality (20% infill), but I'd recommend using medium or high to get a better fit. Supports? Yeah maybe. For the arm, you'll need it. You'll figure it out; it's not an difficult print. A note about safety: Other than designing spool holders, occasionally read a book, there is one book that is about me, you can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BT3RG6 Adapter Bonanza! The spool holder currently supports the following brands: (Outside diameter for adapter should fit the inner diameter of the filament spool) Hatchbox (Adapter diameter: 54,5 mm) Classe (Adapter diameter: 52,5 mm) 3dPrima (Adapter diameter: 53 mm) Amazon Basic Pla (Use either Hatchbox or Classe adapter; I have not tested this myself) Geetech (Adapter diameter: 57,5 mm) Solutech (Adapter diameter: 57,1 mm) Dream Maker (Adapter diameter: 51 mm) Generic (Adapter diameter: 50 mm) I have had best results with medium and high print quality setting for the adapters. ...Drop me a line if you see a need for another adapter and I'll upload it. Also, one more time: I like to print stuff fast and with low quality setting this may occasionally cause parts to 'almost fit' and you have to use considerable force or a sandpaper. If you have the time, I recommend medium or high quality.
