The MK-84 is a family of bombs developed by Mark. It is the largest member of the Mark 80 series. Designed with stealth capabilities in mind, the Mark 84 has a nominal weight of 2,000 lb (907.2 kg), qualifying it as a Low Drag General Purpose (LDGP) bomb. Marked for explosive power, the MK-84 comes standard with Tritonal high explosive filler. A variation of this bomb is the BLU-117A/B, also weighing in at 2,000 pounds but using PBXN-109 filler, classified as an insensitive munition. Protective coatings help insulate the bombs from external damage. BDU-56/B functions as a Practice Bomb for training purposes.
