The rounded edges can lead to inaccuracies such as: nemA 17 -> Holes for screws are located on a 1.7-inch circle with a diameter of approximately 43.18mm. Drawing a square on the attachment points results in distances of around 30.53mm. Fanholes of a 40mm fan are typically spaced about 32mm apart. This discrepancy can add up to 32-30.53=1.47mm, which is negligible, but still poses an issue due to screw clearance not aligning with the holes properly. A new design addresses these differences and offers enhanced airflow performance, as it pulls air upwards or directs it from above, depending on fan mount configuration. Two versions are available: one for direct mounting a 40mm fan only and another for The Thing-o-matic (and potentially Rep1 and Rep2), featuring a cooling pipe routed to the nozzle. I utilized the MB40201VX-000U-A99 fan with successful results. However, M3 holes require post-processing. This design is intended for educational purposes only and is not suitable for commercial use.
