The sixth revamp of my magnetic separation apparatus utilizes cost-effective 8mm by 2mm rare earth magnets, angled to optimally position near 1.5 mL tubes. You can use twice the amount of 8mm by 1mm magnets or explore other suppliers like Harbor Freight where I got my 8mmX2mm ones. This stand performs as efficiently as Promega's at a fraction of the cost, $3 compared to $45. Design multiples of this unit or customize for different tube sizes. Print using your Replicator 2, with settings of around 3 shells and 35% infill. Magnetic pieces attract each other inside the stand. Post-printing, proceed with protein purification.
