MJX C4018 camera case, GoPro like mounting option
thingiverse
I was looking for a compact, lightweight Wi-Fi camera to attach under a kite and observe the world from above. I discovered the MJX C4018 online - it's quite affordable, records 720p directly to a micro SD card, and is fully controllable via Wi-Fi through an Android or iOS app. The camera was originally designed for use with some small copters made by MJX, so the mounting method isn't really suitable for any other situation. It comes with a power adapter for powering it with a 2S LiPo, so it can be used without one of MJX toys. But I was concerned about damaging the antenna if I just mounted it anywhere as is. And it doesn't seem to be very robust. So I designed this case to hold the camera, the antenna, and the power adapter in place, and for being able to mount it like a GoPro case. What you need: * 4 short nylon M3 screws * some bits of velcro Print the parts, remove support structures (if used) and cut M3 thread into the two mounting holes inside the case, and into the ones on the left and right side. Put the power adapter in its place and lock it using the small printed plate and two of the short screws. Add the velcro bits through the slots on the back (fold a little latch on one side of each velcro part and secure it first), then press the antenna into its place. Connect the power cable, put the camera into the case and lock it with the two other screws. Strap the battery onto the case's back, plug it in, and you're done. *__ATTENTION!__ The adapter that comes with the camera for connecting it to a 2S LiPo just discharges one cell! This isn't ideal. I'm using a protected 18650 cell instead now, which should work better...
