I'm thoroughly enjoying my Bugs 3, despite experiencing frequent crashes. One of my rear arms snapped, and research online suggests that this particular issue plagues many users - the arm tends to break in the same location. Fortunately, replacement frames are available for purchase online at a reasonable price of around $12. However, I'm concerned about the wait time, which is approximately one month. Given my impatience, I took matters into my own hands and designed a custom replacement arm that can be easily attached to the stock frame after cutting off the original arms. If future arm failures occur, users won't need to unsolder motors to replace them. I've printed four of these new arms with the supports facing downwards for easier removal. Utilizing natural color PLA, I'm hoping the lights will create a striking visual effect at night. For added stability, I recommend using alternative screws instead of the stock ones for securing the tall landing gear. During testing, one arm came loose after aggressive flying, causing the propeller to collide with the body and resulting in a crash. The broken arms all shared the same point of failure as their stock counterparts. To prevent this issue from recurring, I'll print additional arms using larger screws, possibly even nuts for added security. Despite this setback, my modified Bugs 3 flew exceptionally well until the arm failure occurred. Please examine my photos carefully to see how I made the necessary cuts on the original arms - essentially, where the smooth underbelly meets the rest of the frame. For the cutting process, I employed a hacksaw, and to clear space for wiring, I used a razor blade to carefully remove excess plastic bits. After modifications, my aircraft weighs 342 grams without the battery, only slightly heavier than before but still significantly lighter than carrying a GoPro.
