Mjolnir, Thors hammer

Mjolnir, Thors hammer

thingiverse

Here's a Swedish-style Mjolnir (Thor's Hammer) design that anyone can make in Tinkercad without 3D modeling experience. Mjolnir, the crusher or pulverizer, likely evolved from Perun's axe, which came from a stone axe. The sun cross represents the sun and possibly the four seasons. The troll cross symbolizes protection against trolls and similar creatures. DISCLAIMER: This design was invented in the 1990s by blacksmith Kari Erlands but has become a popular motif. The Thurisaz/thorn rune ᚦ represents Thor. DISCLAIMER: I'm not aware of any historical examples of using a single rune to represent a word like Chinese characters, but it's another popular theme. The Vegvisir (Way Shower/Guide) symbolizes holidays celebrated in Norse paganism. DISCLAIMER: Historical use is debated, and there's no concrete evidence since medieval Iceland, but it's another popular motif. Aegishjalmur (Helm of Awe) induces fear and protects, made from several Algiz ᛉ runes. DISCLAIMER: The symbol was mentioned during the Viking Age, but the actual symbol only has evidence from the medieval period. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: RepRap Kossel Rafts: No Supports: Yes Notes: My print: Nozzle size: 0.3mm Layer height: 0.15mm Angle: -45° (symbol face up, hammer head touching print-bed) A 0.4 nozzle should work fine; just use a -45° angle for the best results. How I Designed This: I used pen and paper to design this Mjolnir in Tinkercad.
