Mixed Filament runout and guide - Anet A8
thingiverse
Here is a rewritten version of the text: I designed a simple filament runout switch using 1.75mm filament and a mechanical endstop with a roller arm. To achieve this, I combined two existing designs - sb43201 and jrwells - from Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2577717 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1795148). My goal was to position the switch close to the extruder, while firmly securing it without using screws for the mechanical endstop. I found a suitable solution by utilizing the initial place of my filament guide (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1795148). The design consists of two parts: runout_filament_with_guide and endstop_blocker. I tested this setup on a Ramps board with the OctoPrint plugin "Filament Sensor Reloaded" (http://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/filament_sensor_reloaded/), which worked flawlessly. However, I have yet to implement it on my Anet A8. The mechanical endstop used features a roller arm and can be sourced from Aliexpress (https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/50pcs-lot-New-3D-printer-accessories-Makerbot-MK7-MK8-Micro-Roller-Lever-Arm-Normally-Open-Close/32681500791.html). You can use the original screws for the "Anet A8 filament guide" (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1795148) without any modifications. I included two diagrams illustrating both positions - with and without filament - as well as F3D files to enable you to customize the design if you have different endstop sensors.
