Avoid resizing gems non-uniformly. Gemstone Guidelines: Material Color & Optical Performance Color comes primarily from refraction fog colors. Need a darker or lighter custom cut gem? Adjust the fog color and multiplier settings in the V-Ray Refraction section (check the V-Ray Next manual for full guidance). Same Material, Different Size: The same material will appear darker on larger stones due to light traveling further through it. To lighten up dark gems, switch to a lighter version of the same gemstone. Keep Sizes Relative: Small facet counts and small sizes are paired, while high-facet-count gems come in larger sizes (1mm is typically the smallest practical size for hand-crafted facets). Keep relative sizes accurate for realistic gemstones.
