I was thrilled to receive an invitation to a lighting design contest from Sutri, Italy, with my friend Arch. Vincenzo Bellini had created the project Giubileo della Luce for ANCI. The Mithraeum of Sutri is a stunning Etruscan site in Italy, and you can see it here! As I've done for years, I visited the location to conduct a thorough survey. I captured around 30 photos and a short video clip. From the clip, I extracted frames without editing them this time, since the natural light was flawless. Initially, the model had approximately two million polygons. To optimize its performance, I applied topology optimization to the ground surfaces and trees. This allowed me to rebalance the triangles and then decimate the model twice, ultimately achieving my desired outcome. Fortunately, Sketchfab permitted me to replicate the real lighting design project with remarkable accuracy, as I had planned to utilize three lights - the maximum limit for the platform. I selected a 2500K light source, converted it to RGB, and finally translated it into HEX. I hope you appreciate this creation!
