This air-cooled weapon features a 76-caliber barrel, Hotchkiss cannons with a cyclic rate of 450 shots per minute, but the practical rate is 200/250 shots per minute to allow for the reloading of their 30-round magazines. It was used by the Air Force and the National Navy. In the National Navy, it was mounted in bitube and quadritube configurations, the latter configuration being invented by Yves Le Prieur on most warships built in the 1930s, but it was also used on land for coastal defense.
