MiSTer - Case Bottom Remix with USB Hub support

thingiverse

This is a remix of NegSol's "MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2" which is designed to accommodate a MiSTer with the official IO board mounted on the top of the DE-10. The complete print is four pieces which includes a bottom and sides, top and sides, plus two additional pieces for the front and back that slide in vertically before the top is put on. This revised version replaces all but the top part to allow for MiSTer configurations that also include the official USB hub daughterboard mounted on the bottom. This revised version is designed to work with the original top which can be obtained from the original Thingiverse post (NegSol has a few versions you can use). NegSol's page also has some files for an IO board but as a detached unit so I created a replacement bottom that encloses everything and could be used with the original top I had already printed. The revised bottom keeps all of the original cutouts and vent holes (except where the vent holes would have intersected with the new cutouts). New cutouts were added for each of the six USB posts on the hub (three on each side). The USB cutouts are generously sized to accommodate the sometimes thick amounts of bezel/plastic/rubber that you get at the end of a USB cord. Since the original design of the case is wider than the DE-10, three of the USB ports are recessed from the edge of the case. I kept this on purpose so these ports could be used for dongles such as Bluetooth/Wifi adapters, thus keeping them "internal" to the case instead of sticking out awkwardly where they could catch and damage a USB port. I'm using a moderately sized no-name dongle I get a link for from Retropie and it barely sticks out past the edge of the case (shown in the photos above). Even with three recessed ports, there are still five ports flush with the exterior and most controllers/kbs/mice would be able to reach the recessed ports through the cutouts. The front and back panels have also been revised to account for the additional height and to add another row of cutouts on the bottom but the additional USB ports (two Type B and one mini-USB for the uplink bridge) and the additional power connector. - *MiSTer_Uni_Bottom_USBHub_Revised.stl* is the main body. - *MiSTer_Uni_Front_Revised.stl* is the front panel with the original cutouts plus the new ones for the additional power and USB port. - *MiSTer_Uni_Back_Revised.stl* is the back panel with the original cutouts plus the new ones for the USB uplink port and the additional USB Type B port.
