Mist coolant nozzle
grabcad
The mist coolant nozzle, designed for a milling machine, uses low pressure air and coolant to remove work area chips and lubricate the cutter. By adjusting air and coolant pressure, it disperses coolant as small particles rather than atomizing it into vapor. Created in Inventor 2015 with step and iges formats for compatibility, the ipt file contains CAM toolpaths. The hose fittings are 1/8" barb #10-32 connectors, while the needle valve is from Clippard (part #MNV-4CK). The tube, a 3/16" brass tube from Lowes, has a MIG .035" welding tip trimmed and soldered in. Additional parts include a 10-32 x 1/8" hose barb and Clippard's MNV-4K Miniature Needle Valve. The nozzle top port is for liquid, while the lower is for air, with separate regulators set at around 15 PSI for air and 3 PSI higher for liquid.
