MinV2 remix for Micro Swiss Direct Drive
thingiverse
Purchased the Micro Swiss Direct Drive kit and sought a lightweight fan duct to mitigate some of the added weight of the extruder stepper motor on the X Gantry. While the two most popular fan duct replacements are well done, only ThisjsRico's design effectively minimized weight while offering one of the best offsets for a BLTouch. The Micro Swiss Direct Drive mounting plate lacks the same gap behind the hotend as the stock Ender 3 plate, rendering the upward airflow design of the MinV2 ineffective. Additional vents were cut on each side to compensate. However, even with these additional vents, significant back pressure was still felt from the fan. A video on static pressure improvements using fan vanes caught my attention, and I found a design created by Madau3D that looked promising. This remix combines the two designs and adds extra venting. NEW (May 5th): 1) Uploaded a cleaner fan remix labeled as v2, which should reduce artifacts when slicing. NEW (May 1st): 1) Added a remix of the backplate to better fit the micro Swiss "square" backside 2) Included the original fan duct for convenience. Note(s): 1) I have yet to print the remixed backplate myself. Update: Printed fine, but the trimmed area is too thin and needs rework. 2) I have yet to print fan remix v2; it appears much better in S3D.
