Minty Tic Tac Toe: An Altoid Game

Minty Tic Tac Toe: An Altoid Game

thingiverse

This is one of several "Altoys" toys and games I've designed to fit into an Altoid tin alongside my 9-year-old daughter. We developed this tic tac toe game after spotting those old-fashioned playground versions spinning around. To make it more competitive, we added a tournament counter. For assembly, round toothpicks are perfect for the tic tac toe pieces and counter pieces. One side of the holes is larger than the other, featuring a small grip that keeps the toothpicks from spinning wildly while you play and ruining the game. Use a thimble or any hard object to firmly tap the toothpick into place against the back piece. Trim away any excess wood, then carefully insert the pieces into the Altoid tin. You might need to snap it into place at an angle due to its tight fit. Play tic tac toe anywhere – in your home or on-the-go! Be sure not to assemble this with young children around, as all these parts are tiny choking hazards. This project is part of our ongoing "untrashables" collaboration. My 9-year-old daughter and I take ordinary household trash and turn it into fun, functional objects using 3D printed components.
