Minolta was once one of the most popular brands for 135 film SLRs and lenses. The company made its own glass, producing exceptionally consistent color - a fact that earned them a reputation for excellence even among Leica, which they supplied with some of their lenses. Minolta introduced their SR bayonet lens mount in 1958 and continued to produce lenses using this manual-focus mount until 2001. They also produced the MC and MD variants, but these should not be confused with the incompatible autofocus lens mount A, which was launched with the Maxxum line in 1985 and has since been continued by Sony since 2006. Due to SR's relatively short flange distance, there were limited options for mounting SR lenses on other bodies, but adapters are available for various mirrorless mounts, including Leica M. One reason to 3D print this adapter is that it can be done easily in two pieces: the adapter itself and a removable lens locking pin. However, an SR to M adapter also allows the latest Sony E mount bodies to autofocus these manual lenses via the Techart Pro LM-EA7 adapter, which has a 700g weight drive limit, making it essential to keep the adapter as lightweight as possible (this one weighs around 11g). There is also a potential issue with some SR adapters being too thick on the M side to fit on the LM-EA7. The last two photos were taken using the LM-EA7 on a Sony A7II with a Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 lens wide open. They are vertical shots that look much better when viewed in their original vertical orientation, rather than being cropped horizontally by Thingiverse.
