Santorini, a Greek island, boasts Akrotiri as one of its most ancient and fascinating sites. Located near Fira, the island's capital, Akrotiri is an archaeological wonder that showcases the Minoan civilization's rich history. The site was first excavated in 1900 by Italian archaeologist Doro Levi, who uncovered a well-preserved city that dates back to around 1500 BC. The National Archaeological Museum in Athens houses many of the artifacts found at Akrotiri, including frescoes and pottery that depict scenes from everyday life in ancient times. Visitors can explore the museum's vast collection and gain a deeper understanding of the Minoan culture.
