Minnow Trap 2
thingiverse
This is an expanded version of my original Minnow Trap It utilizes two segments of the cage part and concludes with a 6" Diameter x 7" length. I printed this one in ABS and employed CA glue and accelerator to bond all components together... except for the rear end cap, which is removable and merely snaps into place It was designed to be printed while taking advantage of the quick Honeycomb infill pattern in Simplify3D. Using the process settings below, it prints out solid object files without any top or bottom layers, resulting in a cage-like pattern within the parts. I employ two distinct processes: the first Process prints the cage pattern until a certain height is reached, then the second Process prints the solid components of the objects. The Cage is the only part that necessitates supports. By utilizing this method, you can create numerous useful items such as animal cages, screen guards, sifting screens, etc by simply adjusting the infill percentage to achieve the desired size holes. The cage part for this Minnow Trap measures approximately 7" x 9" when flat so a substantial print bed is required to print it and you must utilize the settings below (specifically the 12% infill) for the end caps to snap fit together with the main cage upon completion. *************************************************** ###The Cage pieces### Process 1 settings... (Layer Tab) Layer Height = .20 Top & Bottom Solid Layers = 0 Outlines/Perimeter Shells = 2 (Infill Tab) Infill percentage = 12% Internal Fill = Fast Honeycomb External Fill = Rectilinear (Advanced Tab) Stop Printing at 1.40mm *************************************************** Process 2 settings... (Layer Tab) Layer Height = .20 Top & Bottom Solid Layers = 2 Outlines/Perimeter Shells = 2 (Infill Tab) Infill percentage = 80% Internal Fill = Rectilinear External Fill = Rectilinear (Advanced Tab) Start Printing at 1.40mm *************************************************** ###Caps and Funnel pieces### Process 1 settings... (Layer Tab) Layer Height = .20 Top & Bottom Solid Layers = 0 Outlines/Perimeter Shells = 6 (this allows the rings to print solid with a single process, assuming you use a .35 nozzle.) (Infill Tab) Infill percentage = 12% Internal Fill = Fast Honeycomb External Fill = Rectilinear 3-19-19 - Added Joiner.STL section so you can create a longer double wide cage version. (Not Tested)
