Minié Ball
thingiverse
This is an exact replica of a type of musket ball model. Multiple varieties exist, all commonly known as Minié balls due to their inventor. Unfortunately, I'm unsure which specific variety this particular model actually represents. The dimensions are precise for one distinct rifle ball design, but the rounded tip has been borrowed from other types. In any case, it's a nearly accurate representation of the class of musket balls, even if not an exact replica of a single type. Clearly, this is designed as a display model and not intended for actual use. Attempting to fire it would likely be unsuccessful, but it can serve as a scale model for illustrating the shape and size of real musket balls. I created this design because I was surprised to find no existing model on Thingiverse. The original dimensions were provided in inches, so I used those measurements to create the model and scaled it up to millimeters. A version in inches has also been included, and the .scad file contains a scale factor that allows you to easily switch between units if desired.
