The miniature figurine was crafted from plaster and manufactured on a large scale by a firm based in Essen that specialized in producing mining-themed souvenirs for both Germany and the Netherlands. It is a cast of a miner wielding a drill made of plaster. Between his legs lies a gasoline lamp, used for illumination and to monitor gas levels in the mine. The miner wears a helmet equipped with a front-facing torch. Although there is no specific information available regarding its creation date, the Dutch Mijnmuseum estimates that it was produced around 1980, a period following the closure of the Dutch mines. This miniature figurine forms part of the extensive collection held by the Dutch Mijnmuseum in Heerlen. For more details on the remaining items within this collection, please visit their website.
