Minimalistic Z-Braces for wanhao i3 v2.1
thingiverse
A crucial yet subtle z-brace mod. Materials needed for the mods I implemented: 4 x M4 Right-Hand Thread Rod End Joints 4 x Press fitting M4 threaded sleeve rod bars 4 x M4 square nuts 2 x Carbon fiber tubes (OD 7mm, ID 5mm) x 350mm minimum 10 x M3 15mm screws You can use alternative materials since I had the carbon fiber tubes on hand. I used press-fitting sleeves (glued into the tubes) and male rod ends. You could also use threaded rods instead of the carbon fiber tubes, along with a female rod end joint, to speed up installation. The holes for the square nuts are about the same size as the nuts. To insert them, heat them with a lighter and press them into place; this way, they won't fall out and will be securely fixed to the support. After installation, a drop of super glue or hot glue on the end stop bearings may be beneficial.
