Minimalistic single screw motor mounts
thingiverse
I found the existing motor mounts to be either excessively bulky or woefully fragile.\nThe new design aims to strike a balance, securely attaching to the cf tube via a single 2mm screw without compromising its durability.\nThe standard motor hole pattern of 12mm/16mm is commonly used in most 18xx-class motors.\nI'm pairing it with the DYS 1806, designed for 12mm outer diameter tubes.\nUpdate 30 Sept:\nInventor part files are now included, along with an experimental and untested 22xx version featuring a 16x19 hole pattern.\nThe 22xx model remains completely untested, I would greatly appreciate feedback. Instructions The design has successfully printed in ABS using both 0.2mm and 0.4mm layer height settings. Printing at less than 100% infill will only result in negligible weight savings, making it an undesirable option.\nFirst, print a test sample to ensure it fits snugly with the desired tube. If it's too loose, try scaling down the design by a few percent and re-check its fit.\nThe drill jig is derived from Firefly designs; printing two should suffice, or you can reuse one from an existing Firefly print if you have it on hand.\nTo assemble the mount, begin by drilling a 3mm hole for frame attachment. Rotate the jig by 90 degrees and drill the 2mm hole to secure the motor mount at the other tube end.\nRequired items for assembly include: 1. M2x20 screw for securing the mount on the carbon tube 4. M2x5 screws for stabilizing the motor
