Minimal V6 + Orbiter 2.0 mount for Ender 3 Pro
prusaprinters

I created this model because I wanted something as stripped back as possible. I'm happy with the cooling of the stock E3D V6 heatsink fan and I print almost exclusively in PETG so powerful part cooling isn't something I want - the stock fan is sufficient.

Part Cooling

There is a fan bracket included for the stock fan but you'll need a duct on the bottom of the fan that blows out centrally as I aligned the center of the fan with the center of the V6 just to keep everything…. central! Other fans can easily be mounted with a custom bracket that fits in the 10mm wide groove on the side of the Main Body, with an M3 bolt through the slot. I've sized my bracket to 9.5mm to have a little clearance. There is a slot on both sides of the mount for flexibility.

Parts & Assembly

You will need a short section of Bowden tube, 5x 25mm M3 bolts and nuts as well as the stock Ender hotend mounting bolts for assembly. There are recesses for nuts in the back (for Front clamp bolts), underside (for Orbiter bolts) and on the “walls” on top (for fan mount bracket). Push these in first then screw the Main Body to the X carriage locating it on the original stock hotend screw holes using the stock hex head bolts. The V6 can then be pushed in (tight fit - sized to exactly the dimensions provided by E3D) and the Front bolted in place. A short section of Bowden tube is then inserted into the V6 before the Orbiter is tightened down - there is a small gap between the V6 and Orbiter to clear the X carriage wheels as I didn't want to hang too much weight off the front. Finally, add your cooling fans.

Printing

I recommend PETG for printing this mount - I printed the Main Body laying on its back with tree supports for the side slots (part cooling fan carrier groove) and the Front face down.
