Minimal Spool Roller
thingiverse
A while back I download a design for a spool holder that uses ball bearings, they are chonky but they work great! Having recently acquired a number of new machines, I needed spool holders in a hurry and just happened to have been given a big bag of 9x9x5mm roller bearings. So I came up with this! Rather than having two large rollers, I've used four smaller ones, I've tried to minimise the amount of material used and the size (and thus the print time). No fasteners are required, if your dimensional adjustments have been dialled in correctly everything should just fit together and can then be quickly welded. Four side pieces, four rollers, four 9mm OD, 5mm ID, 9mm long roller bearings... that will get you two assembled units which is enough for one filament spool. Knocking these out on an IDEX machine speeds up the process too!
